Neha shares virtual oral dialogue recordings & update

Today, the Neha Review Panel released the seven virtual oral dialogues they hosted this past summer as well as an exciting look ahead at when they intend to release their right to housing reports to Canada’s Minister of Housing and Infrastructure.

The Neha Review Panel was appointed by the National Housing Council to examine the right to safe, adequate and affordable housing for women, Two-Spirit, trans, and gender-diverse people, and the government’s duty to uphold that right. The review was called after the Women’s National Housing & Homelessness Network (WNHHN) and National Indigenous Women’s Housing Network (NIWHN) filed two human rights claims with the Federal Housing Advocate in 2022.

From June to August 2025, Neha conducted virtual dialogues with lived experts, researchers, advocates, and housing and service providers across Canada, alongside locally led dialogues hosted by partner organizations.

NIWHN, WNHHN, and Federal Housing Advocate, and partners, participated in the first virtual oral dialogue in June along with partners, and the recording is now available (see below!).

In addition, Neha received written submissions from federal departments detailing their efforts to advance the right to housing for women, Two-Spirit, trans, and gender-diverse people.

Neha’s Reports Update

In September and October 2025, Neha plans to reconnect with selected dialogue participants to share preliminary findings and seek further input.

This collaborative process will shape two major deliverables: the interim report, centring the voices and priorities of dialogue participants; and the final report, delivering concrete recommendations directly to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure.

Both reports are scheduled for release later this year.

The Minister is then required to respond in the House and Senate publicly within 120 days of receiving the reports, as mandated by the National Housing Strategy Act.

With community partners, Neha also hosted in-person oral dialogues. Two of them co-facilitated by the Women’s National Housing and Homelessness Network at the Pan-Canadian Voice on Women’s Housing conference and at two Nova Scotia prisons for women and gender-diverse people. The testimony collected at these and other dialogues will be release soon.
